Screenqueri.es | Pixel Perfect Responsive Design Testing Tool

Screenqueri.es | Pixel Perfect Responsive Design Testing Tool.

At some point the discussion over responsive design comes up when talking to students about their favorite sites.  A good way to show them sites that are designed to handle different media types or devices is by using the beta utility linked about.

I will also be using this tool in my next “Advanced WEB Design” class as it is cost prohibitive for the college to keep all the different sized devices handy for my students to test their new templates or site designs.

Enjoy!

10 Commandments of Blogging

I found this using StumbleUpon and thought it was great.  I will be using this in my WEB 2.0 for Students class when we cover ‘self publishing’.

For fun, I was envisioning a Mel Brooks skit in which he originally was holding four (4) tablets and two of them dropped and he went from 20 commandments to 10 comandments.

What are some of those lost 10 Commandments?

I found this post on Mashable and thought it was very pertenant for students who are starting out sharing photo content when self publishing.  The saturation of smart phones and photography has open a new door to shared imagery this world has never seen before.

For example, I show my students how to self publish photos to a blog using their smartphone.  The photos are taken and thenemailed to a Flickr account which then automatically publish the photo to a blog with a preset template.

Web Clipper – Evernote Corporation

Great tool for those doing research.  Evernote is a cloud application that I have found to be very helpful in collecting and organizing  data.

Web ClipperThe Evernote Web Clipper lets you save interesting stuff you see on the web. No more bookmarks, tabs, or open windows. See something you like, clip it and you’ll have it forever.Install Google Chrome extension

Many of the assignments students are given can be now completed on web sites.  Research, collecting information, sharing information is all done from a browser.  The old days of cataloging everything on 3×5 cards are not as convenient then simply clipping the content from with in page, or capturing the entire page to a service like Evernote.

A must have for anyone working in the WEB 2.0 world.
